Guy making competition

Come along to the Stade Hall between 12:30 and 3:30 on bonfire Saturday and build your own Guy. Materials and help provided. Fun prizes! Then see you Guy burn on the bonfire in the evening.

Simple Guy Making

You need: Two wooden canes, old clothes, a large circle of plain fabric, string, old paper, paint or marker pens.

1. Tie the sticks into a cross.

2. Stuff the centre of the circle with scrunched up paper. Put the upright stick into the centre of the circle. Then pull the edges up and tie tightly onto the stick to make a head.

3. Thread the cross ways stick through the top / jacket. Tie up the sleeves and neck openings. Stuff with scrunched paper. Tie tightly to stick around the waist.

4. Tie the bottoms of trousers. Fill with scrunched paper. Tie onto the stick at the waist to join the top.

5. Paint or draw on a face.

Options: Hair can be made from wool or curled paper strips. Hats, shoes, hands etc. can be made from painted cardboard and or papier-mâché.

The competition is open to anyone up to 16 years old. 12 and unders must be accompanied by an adult.

HBBS take child and parent details on entry to the Guy Making Competition to operate this competition.

  • HBBS primarily need contact details for Health & Safety purposes, on a strictly temporary basis

  • HBBS do not hold or store any personal information without permission - consent needs to be given or authorised by the holder of parental responsibility over the child

  • HBBS will not use this information for any marketing or any unlawful purpose, and we do not offer any services to the children besides this event (unless they are society members) other than through the parents, and those aged 12 or younger need parental support and supervision throughout

  • These contact details will be destroyed 21 days after the event

  • No HBBS systems or data transfer will be employed. There will be no 'processing' of such data. These records will only be on paper for the purpose of the event
