Trafalgar Day Beacon
Before and After The Event

HBBS were asked by the Nautical Heritage Association to light the beacon on the East Hill which formed part of the celebrations on that day, Friday October 21st 2005.
Now HBBS have a reputation for doing things properly where fire is concerned, but this time the fire burnt too well, it was so hot that the beacon itself was unable to withstand the heat and the wooden post supporting it burnt through, but there again, if you support a basket holding a blazing fire with a wooden pole it is not really surprising that it eventually burns through, so now Hastings has lost its beacon for the second time in the last ten years.

Here are some pictures, the first of the photo shoot before the event on October 18th, and some from on the day itself, many thanks to Alan Smith for supplying them for use on this site.
