2006 Annual Dinner

It was a select group but a good one.  If you missed this you missed a treat.
The 'ladies who do' had really done their best.  Mike (honorary lady who does) had made some fantastic pictures which were hanging around the room and we stepped into Victorian England.  The first course was vegetable soup or salmon and it was superb.  Following was boiled beef and carrots with mash.  I have no idea how they did it but I have never had mash so good. Then pavlova for pudding.
The Harveys was on top form as I had gone to the brewery that day to make sure it was as fresh as could be. (It was such a trial, but somebody had to do it).  Then Jeff gave out the prizes and Bill Wickens spent the next half hour on his feet as he got nearly every award for being good then for being bad!
Entertainment was by the Shady Ladies, who put us all in the mood, followed by beauty and the beast (Heather and I) who performed some music hall songs,  Twig did a couple more, then half a Thompsett twin in the form of Jeff (who was it said Pete would be arriving next day) did some wonderful recitationing. Finally Pete Welch did a couple and we all waited and were not let down by the Battle of Hastings...now complete with crow.   The Shady Ladies finished and merrily we rolled along home.
Thanks to Nick for some of the most obscure MCing to date and 'the ladies who do' for doing so well.
If you missed it you missed a good one.
